I use one for removing 10 metre concrete lamp posts, and even with that alarm sounding there are ways to still move the object (tele boom in slightly, slew object then continue to lift) but using human sight you can see the vehicle tilt - at which point you STOP. lol Im betting that if the alarm was sounding here, it was ignored... if it didnt sound then the visual checks to the vehicle were ignored. I mean look at that back end of the orange hi-ab. Mental. In my honest opinion, lifting something thats double the hight BELOW my vehicle is stupid and a mobile crane should be used. The lifting capacity of the crane is a major factor, but the position from which the item to be lifted is another. When the item to be lifted is positioned lower than the crane itself, then additional measures need to be taken to account for the additional forces and moment that would occur. Size is not everything – using one’s brains is much more important! ;-) It is actually a problem of physics.
