The tank is filled with a very dense gas (you see them filling it with a hose from a cylinder at the start). The title is German for “Ship floats on gas”. I think the gas is sulphur hexafluoride- it’s about 4 times as dense as air, enough for the boat to float on it, but only 0.6% as dense as water.
